How We Work

Great design is a process and a partnership; an imperative to not only produce solutions, but to also evoke emotion, whether it be joy, relaxation, energy, inspiration or all of the above.

Our practice is driven by a boundless curiosity, and each new project presents an opportunity to grow and explore. We delight in the details; finding a piece that is perfectly balanced yet slightly askew knocks our socks off. And while we’re known for our bold use of color, we’re equally at home with design that calms the senses - providing a welcome respite from the world around us.

We are proud to offer a full range of interior architecture, design and decorative services to residential and commercial clients in Atlanta, San Francisco and across the country.

We listen and we learn.

We begin by asking questions. A lot of them. Questions about you and your family, how the spaces will be used, who needs what to create their own special haven. We ask about how your family gathers and how you entertain; what your work from home space needs to accommodate … and that’s just a start.

We present, we juggle, and we listen some more.

We’ll organize a series of showroom visits and bring samples and design schemes to your home. Balancing budgets with wish lists, needs, and wants can be a bit of a juggling act - our job is to make sure that something fabulous happens when all of those pieces land. Good design requires both sides of the brain - our team is creative and spontaneous, but also intensely organized.

We plan and we explore.

As part of the discovery process, we’ll measure spaces, talk about budget parameters, styles and functions. We’ll start working on floorplans and layout options, and begin defining color and design schemes. For renovation projects, we’ll dive into the construction process: preparing bid and permit documents, reviewing construction bids, timelines, vendors and resources - everything you need to get the process rolling, and to keep it moving through completion.

We design and we follow through.

We manage the purchasing cycle, with vendor negotiations and contracts, coordination of orders, budget tracking, delivery and installation, and of course, the inevitable follow-through to get things just right. Timeframes, particularly now, can be delayed or elusive. Staying on top of everything, and communicating clearly, has always been our absolute.

AND, SOME TIPS FOR YOU

Learn a bit about the field of interior design, and how you might benefit from hiring a professional designer. Don’t hesitate to ask questions - believe me, we’ll ask tons of you during our discovery process.

Understand your budget and have realistic expectations as regards time and expense. Develop a portfolio of images that appeal. Pinterest and Instagram are great sources, as are European style and design magazines.

Think about your goals and your needs. Some good questions to ask are how your family will use the space, what activities will take place, and how you want to interact. And allow yourself to dream a little. The process can be challenging (that’s what we’re here for), but also a lot of fun - and you can bet, we’re here for that too.

We listen and we learn.

We start by asking questions. A lot of them. Questions about your family, how the spaces will be used, who needs what to make their own safe haven; how your family gathers and — once we’re all allowed again — how you’ll entertain.
